How to read a locksmith quote
A trustworthy locksmith estimate has three properties. It is given before anyone drives, it covers the whole job rather than a service call that gets added to, and the technician goes over the price with you before starting, so you can still say no. Everything else on this page follows from those three.
The two prices that fool people
The first is the teaser: a very low figure in an ad or a title that turns out to be just the fee for showing up. The second is the drilling upsell: a standard lockout that suddenly needs the lock destroyed and replaced. Standard residential and automotive locks are picked or bypassed without damage. If you are told otherwise on your driveway, you are allowed to say no and call someone else.

Why does the advertised $15 or $29 locksmith end up costing hundreds?
That figure is a service-call fee that gets added to the real job on your driveway, and the real job is often padded with a drilling charge that a standard lock does not need. Ask for an estimate for the whole job, not a service call. If the price on site is far from the estimate and nobody can tell you what changed, say no before any work starts.
What is the average call-out fee for a locksmith?
We do not add a separate call-out fee afterward. The estimate covers the drive, the labor and the parts for the job you describe, and asking for it costs nothing.
Do you charge more in the evening or on weekends?
No. Dispatch runs 8 am to 8 pm, every day, and a job is estimated the same at 7 pm on a Sunday as at 9 am on a Tuesday. We do not add an evening or weekend surcharge on site.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. Active-duty military, reservists, veterans and their families get a discount on every service with ID; see the military discount page. Property managers with recurring work get standing rates.
How do I pay?
Card, cash or contactless on site, and you get an itemized invoice by email with the company name on it.
